本日ご紹介するのは

Paul Reed Smith 2004 Modern Eagle (Red Tiger)

 

まず最初に白状すると、今までPRSをあまり弾いたことがありませんでした。

もちろん嫌いだった訳じゃないんです…

 

今までこのブログはギブソンかフェンダーばかりだったので、スタッフの一人がPRSもやってみなさい！とゴリ押ししてきたので弾いてみたのですが、まあ驚きました。

 

まず出音のバランスが本当にいいのと、ブラジリアン・ローズウッドのネックのおかげでサステインが弾き方ひとつでいつまでも伸びてくれます。

そして低出力のMEピックアップがとても空気感があり、またレンジの広い音を出してくれます。

 

それから、コイルスプリットさせたときの音も素晴らしい。

 

フロントでもリアでも、シングルでもハムでも、上から下までの帯域がとにかくバランス良く出てくれるので、どこを引っぱり出してあげるかは自分のピッキング次第。

 

決して大味なロックギターではないけど、細かいニュアンスやダイナミクスを余すところなく出したい方は、こちらなんていかがでしょうか？

My pick for today is…

Paul Reed Smith 2004 Modern Eagle (Red Tiger)

 

First of all, let me confess.

 

I had never really had much experience with PRSs before.

Not that I disliked them at all, but just never had the opportunity.

 

Since this blog had been all Gibsons and Fenders, one of our staffs talked me into doing a PRS, and look at me now, I’m deeply impressed.

 

This one has such a balanced tone and sustain that lasts forever.

The Brazilian rosewood neck helps with the sustain, and the low-output ME pickups give it an airy, wide-ranged tone.

 

This was also the first time I actually liked the coil-split tone.

Play it on the neck or bridge, single or humbucking, the tone is so sonically balanced out, you can pull out a variety of tones with the touch of your hands.

 

Surely not a rock monster type of guitar, but if you’re into guitars that allow you to control subtle nuances and dynamics, this is one you might want to look into.
