本日ご紹介するのは
2016 Gibson Custom Shop Collector’s Choice #35 1959 Les Paul “Gruhn ‘Burst” Agedです。

 

レスポールファンの皆さん、これは見逃さない方がいいですよ。

 

レスポールコレクター界の重鎮、ヴィック・ダプラ氏所有の1959年製レスポールスタンダード(シリアルナンバー:9 0627)をトゥルーヒストリックのスペックで再現したレプリカモデルです。

 

ボディの端まで伸びていくワイドフレームは見事の一言で、やや暗めのトーンのレモンバーストフィニッシュが本当に風格を醸し出しています。

 

それでも、カスタムショップ製レスポールに求めるものは見た目じゃなくていい音だし、ただのいい音じゃなくてやっぱりあのバーストトーンですよね。

 

この個体は3.90kgとやや軽めのレンジで、中域に膨らみがあり広がりのある鳴り方をします。

こういう鳴り方の個体とカスタムバッカーピックアップの相性は抜群。

 

リアはアタックにほんのわずかな尖りがあり、アンプでトレブルを上げ過ぎなくてもしっかり抜けてくれるし、サステインにも十分な倍音が残ってくれるので、ただトレブリーになることもない。

 

フロントはカスタムバッカー特有のタイトな低音域がグッとバイトを強くしてくれます。元々フロントの方が低中域の倍音は強いのでサステインにも十分に味わい深さがあります。

 

なかなかこういう個体は出てきません。

2016 Gibson Custom Shop Collector’s Choice #35 1959 Les Paul “Gruhn ‘Burst” Aged

 

Hey Les Paul fans out there, y’all might not want to miss out on this one.

 

Based on a 1959 Les Paul Standard (serial#: 9 0627) owned by renowned collector Vic DaPra, this one has True Historic specs and is just a killer instrument.

 

The wide flame on the top that reaches out to the edge is just incredible, and the slightly dark tone of the Lemon Burst finish is something to drool over.

 

But hey, if you’re looking at a Custom Shop Les Paul, of course you’re looking for tone, and not just tone, a ‘Burst tone. I know.

 

This one falls in the lighter side for a Les Paul weighing 8.59 lbs and has a good broad resonance with a nice open mid-range.

This type of resonance goes well with the Custombucker pickups.

 

The bridge position has a nice “point” to the attack that will cut through with out over-adding the treble frequencies, and there’s plenty of juice in the sustain. So it’s not just trebly.

 

The neck position has a tight low-end and good bite thanks to the Custombuckers.

 

We don’t get many that are this good.
