本日ご紹介するのは

1977 D-18 (Natural)

 

約40年前に作られたものならではのしっかりとした低音域とマーティンらしい高音域が力強い一本。

 

プレーン弦はピッキングによく反応してくれ、Eメジャーを一発弾けば上から下まで広いレンジで気持ちよく出てくれます。結構音デカいです。

 

ぼく自身試した訳ではないですが、マイク乗りも良さそうな印象を受けました。

ブリッジよりに立てても、サウンドホールよりに立てても、またピックでも指でも、豊かな倍音がミックスの中でもしっかり居場所を見つけてくれそうです。

 

年相応にウェザーチェックが入っていたり傷もあったりするけど、それだけ生きてきただけある音がします。

My pick for today is…
1977 D-18 (Natural)

 

Here’s a vintage Martin I want to share with you today.

 

Almost 40 years old, this one has a great balanced Martin tone with a good bottom end you might look for in older guitars.

The treble strings respond well to my picking, and the full resonance from top to bottom feels great when you stroke out that E chord. It’s pretty loud.

 

Though I haven’t tried yet, it seems this one will also sound great through a mic.

Set it up near the bridge or the sound hole, pick or finger, the ample amount of harmonics will definitely sit nicely in the mix.

 

It’s got some battle scars from all the years it’s lived through, but the guitar surely lives up to its age.
