本日ご紹介するのは
2000 National Delphi (Blue)

 

今日はクリスマスらしい楽器を選ぼうかななんて思っていたのですが、そもそもクリスマスっぽい楽器って何だって話だし、結局見つからなかったのでいまお店にある数ある楽器の中でもお気に入りの一本を選びました。

 

ぼくは元々レゾネーターが大好きで、ビンテージのナショナルのシングルコーンはいつか手にしたい楽器の一つです。

 

こちらはビンテージでもなければ、スペックも若干現代よりですが、まあレゾネーターだし、ナショナル製。ただ青いだけです。

 

これ、音デカいです。

 

3、4弦辺りを弾けばとても豊かで広がりのある中域が鳴ってくれ、1、2弦に上がっていくとシングルコーン特有の、ちょっと鼻に掛かったようなとても美しい音が出てくれます。

 

弦高は指で抑えても、スライドで弾いてもちょうど良く、特にナットの高さがあるので楽器がしっかり鳴ってくれます。

 

弾くのが楽しくてなかなか仕事になりませんでした。(笑)

Merry Christmas friends!

My pick for today is…
2000 National Delphi (Blue)

 

I tried to pick out a Christmas-y guitar, but couldn’t really come up with one so I just decided to post one of my favorites in the shop right now.

 

I’ve always loved resonators, and a vintage National single-cone has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember.

 

This one isn’t vintage, or spot-on traditional style for that matter, but it’s still a resonator, and it’s still a National. Just blue.

 

This thing sounds huge.

 

It’s got plenty of mid-range harmonics that just blooms, especially when you play the 3rd and 4th strings.

Go up to the 1st and 2nd strings, and you get that beautiful, somewhat nasally tone of single-cones that I just love.

 

It’s got a nice action suitable for both fingered and slide playing.

 

This thing is so fun to play it was so hard for me to put it down.
