【Staff Pick!】 2004 Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt ’54 Stratocaster 50th Anniversay By John English (Sunburst)

今は亡きフェンダー・マスタービルダー、ジョン・イングリッシュ氏の手により製作され、ストラトキャスターの登場50周年を記念し発売されたこちらのモデル。

3.30kgと軽量なアッシュ材とジョン・イングリッシュ氏が好んで使用したFat 50’sピックアップが太く力強い低音を生み出します。

アルダーボディーと違い、このアッシュボディーはボディー中心付近に鳴りが集中しているイメージ。

ネックはVというよりは丸く、でも60’sのCシェイプに比べ厚みのあるシェイプ。

ツイードやブラックフェイス期のフェンダーアンプとの相性は間違いなく最高。

Here’s a Strat with plenty of mojo.

Built by the late John English, this one was built back in 2004 to commemorate 50 years since the introduction of Stratocaster guitars.

This thing rings.

The lightweight ash body and Fat 50’s pickups sound great, with a good strong low-end.

Unlike alder bodies, this ash body has a focused resonance right around where the pickups are mounted.

The neck is almost round rather than the V-shape of typical 50’s style Strats, but has more thickness and meat than 60’s style C-shaped necks.

Plug it into a tweed or a blackface Fender amp, and man it’ll put a grin on your face.
