本日ご紹介するのは
Gibson Memphis 2009 ES-137 Classic (Sunburst)

この一本はその演奏性という意味においてオススメできる一本。

古き良き味と対応力を兼ね揃えたこの楽器は持っておくといい引出しになるなと思いました。

少しばかり弾いてまず最初に感じたのはサステインの長さ。

メイプルボディーにマホガニーのセンターブロックが弦振動をしっかり支えてくれ、またミディアム・ジャンボサイズのフレットがスムーズな立ち上がりを生んでくれます。

フロントで弾くと、ジャジーに転がすようなパッセージももちろんいいのですが、逆にそのサステインを生かして、一音一音を長めに取るリリカルな、歌心あるフレージングをしたくなります。

ピックアップの出力自体はセミアコにしては強めなので、リアで鳴らすと、クリーンなら小気味良いシャープな、例えるならコーネル・デュプリーのようなリズム・プレイが楽しいし、ドライヴさせても高音域がヌケてくれる幅広い可能性を持っています。セミアコにしては大きめの音量でもフィードバックに持ちこたえてくれます（さすがにメタルばりの爆音は無理だと思いますが）。

ビンテージ感とパワーが共存するES-137 クラシックは様々な使い方ができる、多くのプレイヤーにオススメできる一本です。

Gibson Memphis 2009 ES-137 Classic (Sunburst)

Here’s a player guitar I wanted to share with you.

Designed to incorporate traditional feel and modern versatility, the ES-137 Classic is a guitar worth adding to your arsenal.

First thing I noticed after fiddling with it for a few seconds was the sustain. The mahogany center block inside the maple body really holds down the notes well, and the medium-jumbo frets give it a smooth attack.
I found it fun to play lyrical passages as well as jazzy scale runs, especially on the front pickup. You can obviously play lyrically on any guitar if you choose to do so, but the sustain and tone kind of pulls you into that side of town.

Since the pickups are pretty hot for a semi-hollow body guitar, the rear position has some nice snappy tones when played clean, and brings out a nice grit when driven (you can drive this thing pretty loud for a semi-hollow, but maybe not at “metal” volumes…)

A great hybrid of vintage-y vibe and rocking power, the ES-137 Classic is an instrument I can definitely recommend for an array of sonic possibilities.
