本日ご紹介するのは

Gibson Custom Shop 2016 Collector’s Choice #35 1959 Les Paul Aged “Gruhn Burst”

 

こちら、ほんの数日前に入荷したばかりなのですが、スタッフも「かっこいいな！」と声を揃えたほど。

この杢目といい、このウェザーチェックといい、ありとあらゆる”線”が織りなす美…!

 

このコレクターズ・チョイス版は、著名なコレクターであるヴィック・ダプラ氏が所有する59年バーストの実機のボディーやネック形状をデジタルスキャンニングより繊密に再現し、復刻したもの。

 

出来上がったのは見た目だけでなく演奏面も非常に優れた一本です。

 

手作業によりサンディングされたネックはビンテージスペックに忠実なやや丸みのあるシェイプで、ぼくは本物の59年を弾いたことはないですが、元々50年代のレスポールのネックの厚さが好きなぼくとしては、確かにグリップのフィーリングは心地良く感じます。

 

搭載されているカスタムバッカーは高音域のヌケがよく、マーシャルなんかに繋いだ日にはレンジの広い、倍音豊かな音が楽しめちゃいます。

 

この一本はあまり長居しなさそうです。

My pick for today is…

Custom Shop 2016 Collector’s Choice #35 1959 Les Paul Aged “Gruhn Burst”

 

This one just came in a few days ago, and I’ve got to say, this one is a beauty.

The grain, the checking, all the lines that criss-cross on the body… it’s almost a piece of art.

 

Based on an original ’59 ‘Burst owned by collector Vic DaPra, the body and neck dimensions of these Collector’s Choice recreations were digitally analyzed from the original.

 

What came out was a great guitar, not only cosmetically, but playability-wise.

 

The hand-sanded neck has a vintage-accurate, slightly rounded off shoulder, and though I have to admit I’ve never had the chance to play a real-deal ’59 before, it does feel nicer in the hands, since I never really mind the thickness of typical 50’s style LP necks.

 

The Custombuckers give a crispy high-end, and plug it into a Marshall, you’ll hear a broad, harmonically rich tone.

 

This one sure won’t be here long.
