当店はいよいよ明日から1週間の夏期休暇に入ります。

浮かれることなく今日いっぱい走り抜けますよ！

 

さて、本日ご紹介するのは

1965 Gibson Firebird III Non-Reverse (Sunburst)です。

 

この一本はなかなかな歴史があります。

52年前に製造され、過去に一度ヘッドが折れてしまっていますが綺麗に修復されています。

ファイヤーバードはヘッドストックが大きいためヘッドが折れやすいのでお持ちの方はお気を付け下さい。

ハードケースに入れていれば安心と思っている方も中にはいらっしゃいますが、そんなことはありません。

 

さて、こちらの一本はノンリバース仕様で、65年はその初年度。

それまでのリバースボディのファイヤーバードはスルーネック構造でしたが、こちらはレスポールやSGと同じセットネック構造です。

 

確かにヴィンテージギターとしては素晴らしいコンディションとは言えないかもしれないけど、これは間違いなくプレイヤーズギターです。

フレットの残りは6割くらいですが、恐らく一度擦り合わせもされていてハイポジションでも音詰まりはなく演奏性は全く問題ありません。

 

P-90はまだまだ元気で、例えば同じギブソンでP-90が載っているレスポールスペシャルなんかに比べると低音域が明瞭でありながらP-90らしいバイト感は健在です。

フロントに比べリアの方が音量が少し小さいですが、それでも密度のある、そしてリアに必要不可欠なクワック感がちゃんとあります。

 

傷もあるけどしっかりと使い込まれたプレイヤーのための一本です。

Here’s my pick for today:

1965 Gibson Firebird III Non-Reverse (Sunburst).

 

This one’s got some history.

It was made 52 years ago and has suffered a broken headstock in the past which is nicely repaired.

Because of its large headstock, Firebirds tend to break easily so if any of you actually own one, PLEASE be careful!

 

Since this one is a non-reverse Bird, it does not have the thru-neck construction like earlier reverse-body Firebirds.

Instead Gibson went on to use the set-neck construction as seen in Les Pauls and SGs.

 

So, this one may not be in the best condition for a vintage guitar, but this thing plays.

The frets are original and about 60% remaining, but it has been leveled out at some point and still plays great without any issues even in the high register.

 

The P-90s still belt out a good amount of output, and compared to Les Paul Specials which also have P-90s mounted, there is a little more clarity in the low-end but still maintains the bite.

The bridge pickup is a little quieter than the neck pickup, but still has enough harmonic detail and that quack.

P-90s in the bridge position has to have the quack. I’m not giving in on this.
