本日ご紹介するのは

1978 Paul Reed Smith Santana Proto

言わずもがな、歴史的価値のある逸品です。

まず何と言っても美しい。

ハンドカーヴトップの曲線、ブラス削り出しサドル、２つのピックアップの間の四角系の模様。

すごく雰囲気を持っていて、壁一面に並ぶPRSの中でも一際オーラを放っています。

ピックアップは交換されているのですが、出力が結構強く、クリーンだとあまりダイナミックレンジがありませんでした。

まあサンタナの楽器だし、歪みで試してみるかと思い、一音出してみた瞬間、あのサンタナらしい温かく線の太い音が。

ピックアップのパワーでコンプレッションが掛かり、またこのブラスブリッジが伸びのあるサステインを生み出します。

What can you say?

Here’s a piece of history worth catching a glimpse.

This one is a true beauty.

The curve on the hand-carved top, the brass saddle, the little square pattern between the pickups.

It’s got an aura, and it just stands out from the other PRSs we’ve got hanging on the wall.

The pickups have been replaced, and they’re pretty darn hot.

I was playing clean at first, but I couldn’t get much dynamics out of this, so I tried some overdrive.

Why not, it’s a Santana guitar right?

The moment I hit a note, I just heard that Santana-ish, warm, fat, thick tone.

With the hot output of the pickups, you get more compression, and the brass saddle adds a mile to the sustain.

There you have it. The Santana guitar.
