2003 Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt Jimi Hendrix Proto ’70 Stratocaster Closet Classic by Jason Davis (White)です。

 

1989年からFender社に在籍し、1997年から2003年までの間マスタービルダーとして活躍した”Jason Davis”によって製作されたジミヘンプロトです!

 

プレイヤビリティ、ルックスともに20代の間にマスタービルダーへと昇格した製作者の実力が感じられる一品です。

リバースヘッド、ボディトップにも入れられたコンター、線が濃く大胆に入れられたウェザーチェックなどなど、かなり存在感のあるルックスです。

まさに!って感じです。

 

そんなこの一本、音はズ・バ・リ!

全体的にブライトながら、ミッドレンジの美味しいところが出ている印象です。

擬音語になってしまいますがカコーンッって感じで突き抜けてくれます…。

ハーフトーンも引っ込み感が少なく、どのピックアップポジションでもバランス良く使える印象です。

 

歪ませるときらびやかだったトレブルが荒々しくワイルドに変貌します…

ジミヘンのアルバムを聞くときらびやかなクリーンとファジーなドライブサウンドが共存していますよね…。

これはまさにそんな印象のギターです、表現の幅が広がりますね!

 

フレットの減りもそれほど見られず、使用感はほとんどありません!

プレイヤーの方にもコレクターの方にも満足いただける1本だとおもいますよ!

My pick for today is:

2003 Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt Jimi Hendrix Proto ’70 Stratocaster Closet Classic by Jason Davis (White).

 

Built by Jason Davis who worked with Fender from 1989, and as a Masterbuilder from 1997 to 2003, this one is a prototype of Jimi Hendrix Stratocaster.

 

Davis was still in his 20’s when he became a Masterbuilder, and this guitar is a good example of why he made it so early on.

The looks, playability and tone is superb and the Hendrix mojo is definitely there.

 

The reversed headstock, the wild finish checking and the contour on the front of the body all give this guitar a unique character.

 

So, how does it sound?

Fairly bright and sparkly, but also has a good midrange that makes this guitar stand apart from other large headstock era Strats.

The out-of-phase positions don’t sound thin or quiet, and all positions are balanced out nicely as far as volume goes.

 

Kick in some overdrive and the shimmering treble suddenly turns in to a screaming monster.

When you listen to Hendrix you hear both the sparkly clean and the explosive fuzz tone.

That’s the kind of stuff you can pull out from this guitar. Sure broadens the horizon doesn’t it?

 

Not much play wear can be seen on this one, so whether you wan’t play the heck out of it or you wan’t keep it in a showcase as a household treasure, this one will do the job.
