本日ご紹介するのは
2011 Fender Custom Shop ’64 Stratocaster Closet Classic (Pink Sparkle/MH)です。

 

言わずもがなですが、このルックス…。

ただのピンクスパークルではなく、マッチングヘッドのピンクスパークル。キラキラです。

 

誰しもが似合う訳ではないですが、選ばれし者の皆さま、おめでとうございます。

ぼく自身は選ばれし者ではなさそうですが、選ばれたかったな思ってしまうくらい素敵な音がします。完全にぼく好みの一本です。

 

このブログをある程度読んで下さっている方なら分かるかもしれませんが、少し前にクリス・フレミングが製作したダコタ・レッドの’64ストラトをご紹介しました。その投稿を読んで頂いていれば、ぼくがどれだけあのストラトを気に入っているかご存知かと思います。もちろんぼくのものではありませんが。

今回ご紹介するこのラメラメストラトも同傾向の音なのですが、こちらの方が低音域が若干膨よかに感じました。

 

この2本に共通する点。それは出音のバランスの良さです。

高音域から低音域まで過度にアクセントが付いている訳ではなく、そういった意味ではパワーヒッターでは決してありません。例えばスティーヴィー・レイ・ヴォーンのようなゴリッゴリの音を探している方にはこちらはオススメしないでしょう。

 

この2本に共通して素晴らしいのは高中域から高音域にかけてのシャリンとした倍音です。

決して耳をツン裂くようなトゲのある高音ではなく、単音においても和音においても音の周りを包んでくれるような、花嫁さんのヴェールのような倍音です。

その上、その下を温かみのある中低域が支えてくれるので音が決して痩せ細る訳ではなくしっかりとした存在感があります。

 

これこそがバランスが良いと感じる所以です。素敵です。

2011 Fender Custom Shop ’64 Stratocaster Closet Classic (Pink Sparkle/MH)

 

Here’s a Strat with a one-of-a-kind look.

A ’64 style in Pink Sparkle with a matching-color headstock.

 

Not every man will look great holding a guitar in this color, but to those who do, you’re in for a treat.

I’m probably not one of the chosen ones, but I wish I was because this thing sounds great. It’s my kind of Strat.

 

If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you might remember a Dakota Red ’64-style that was built by Chris Fleming. If you do remember, you know how much I love that Strat.

This Pink Sparkle Strat sounds somewhat similiar, but with a little more low end.

 

The thing with the Dakota Red and this Pink Sparkle is the balanced tone.

From high to low frequencies, there is no accented hump, and therefore they’re not exactly the most powerful or aggressive kind of guitar, so if you’re looking for something that sounds like Stevie Ray Vaughan, this wouldn’t be the one for you. Sorry.

 

What these two guitars do have is a shimmering overtone in the higher frequencies that give a flavorful texture, like a bride’s wedding veil if you will (how romantic).

And not only that, they also have this warm low-midrange that gives a distinct body to the notes.

This is what I mean by a balanced tone.

 

You should stop by to strum a few chords. This thing rings.
