本日ご紹介するのは

2011 Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1957 Les Paul VOS (Gold Top)。

 

ゴールドトップには目がないぼくですが、この一本もまた惹かれてしまう楽器なので是非皆さんに知って頂きたく筆を取った次第です。

 

まず見て頂くと、ロゴの位置が通常のレスポールより少し下に付いているのがお分かり頂けるかと思います。

 

57年以前のレスポールに見られるこのデザインがぼくは何とも古くさくて好きなのですが、VOS仕上げのギターにはなかなかない仕様です。

一部のエイジドのものやコレクターズチョイスのギターはちゃんと下に付いてるんですけどね。

当時にタイムスリップしたらゴールドトップはこういう見た目をしていたんでしょうね。

人口的に年を取らせたものではなく自分の手でボロボロにしたくて、尚かつビンテージライクなものをお探しの方にはもうこれしかないでしょう。

 

さて、音ですが、もちろん期待を裏切りません。

 

この個体は4.07kgと見事にぼくの好きなウェイトレンジに入ってます。

ある程度の重さがあるので音の輪郭がはっきりしていて、ピッキングに対するバイト感が気持ちいい。

それでいてある程度軽いので膨らみのある中域は残っていて（ビンテージのレスポールの”ブルーム感”はこの鳴り方とPAFの合わせ技だったりしますね）本当にちょうどいいです。

 

あとはボリュームを上げたフェンダーのツイードアンプに繋げればもう吠えますよ。

2011 Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1957 Les Paul VOS (Gold Top)

 

I have a soft spot for these Goltops, and this one kind of gets me so I wanted to share it with you guys.

 

You might notice this one has the “Gibson” logo on a lower position on the headstock, which is vintage correct.

 

Some aged ones and Collector’s Choice ones have the logo on the right position, but not many VOS ones do, so this one’s a bit rare.

I guess this is close to how ’57 Les Pauls should have looked back in the day.

For those who want to beat up your guitar yourself rather than an artificially aged one, but still want that vintage vibe, well here it is.

 

Let’s take a look at the tone.

 

This one falls in my favorite weight range (this one is 8.97lbs), and has a good tightness.

The tone is more defined compared to lighter Les Pauls, and the bite feels good under your picking.

Still, it is light enough to still preserve the open mid-range (part of what the whole “bloom” thing of old Les Pauls is all about), so I’m really liking this balance.

 

Plug this into a cranked Fender Tweed combo and this one will bark.
