本日ご紹介するのは

2012年製 Fender Custom Shop TB ’59 Custom Telecaster Relic (Taos Turquoise over Vintage Blonde)です。

 

夏はすぐそこまでやってきてますが、こんな季節にぴったりなテレが入荷しました。ビーチとかにぴったりなこのタオス・ターコイスカラーが素敵で、マッチングヘッド仕様がより一層明るい印象を与える一本です。フィニッシュ名にもある通り、タオス・ターコイスカラーはビンテージ・ブロンドの上から塗られたマルチレイヤーになっていて、エルボー部分の塗装の剥げている部分からもお分かり頂けると思います。なかなかいいですよね。

このギターはアッシュボディということで3.29kgと軽量。軽いテレはいいですよね〜。フロントの”ツイステッド・テレ”、そしてリアの”ブロードキャスター”ピックアップからはいかにもテレらしいパキっとした高音域が出てくれます。50’sスタイルのテレのトゥワンギーな感じとはまた少し違いますが、ローズ指板ということもあり全体的に音がわずかに丸くなりパコっという独特のアタックが心地いいです。強いタッチで弾けばこのアタックのニュアンスがより顕著になり、ピッキングに対して実に幅広い反応の仕方をしてくれるので、弾いていて非常に楽しい。この重量であれば、軽い中でもボディ材に適度な密度があるので低音域の輪郭がぼやけず、大所帯のバンドやもう一人のギタリストがいるような編成でも使いやすそうです。

まるで60年代のアメリカの雑誌から飛び出てきたかのようなこのルックス。そして優秀な演奏性。これはヒットでしょう。

My pick for today is…

2012 Fender Custom Shop TB ’59 Custom Telecaster Relic (Taos Turquoise over Vintage Blonde).

Summer is just around the corner and we just got this Strat that’s just right for the season. The Taos Turquoise coloring looks awesome and very much fitting for the beach. It’s got a matching color headstock to lively things up even more. The Taos Turquoise is actually painted over Vintage Blonde as you can tell from the wear around where the elbow would sit. Pretty darn cool no?

The ash body on this guitar gives it a nice light weight. Oh how much I love lightweight Teles. With the Twisted Tele and Broadcaster pickups on the neck and bridge positions respectively, the overall tone has a nice brightness you’d look for in a good Tele. Not exactly like the twangy 50’s tone, but because of the rosewood fingerboard you get a nice quack to go along with the springy treble. The notes sort of “pop out” with a strong touch and will respond to your right hand in a variety of ways. With this weight, it has enough density in the body to maintain tightness and clarity in the low-end, which is nice when you have to compete with another guitarist or a large band.

A fun Tele that looks like it came out of a magazine from the 60’s!
