春の訪れを感じる今日の良き日…私たち卒業生は…

の時期を通り過ぎ新学期です。皆様いかがお過ごしでしょうか?

新学期にちなみまして新”楽器”などいかがでしょうか? ぴったりの一本をご紹介いたします!

2014年製 Fender Custom Shop Dealer Select ’61 Stratocaster Heavy Relic Wildwood 10 (Sunburst)です。

アメリカのショーケースディーラー”Wildwood Guitars”オーダーによる限定モデルです。このレリックの仕上がりはかっこいいです！ウェザーチェックの入り具合はもちろんですが、塗装が剥がれた部分の層の具合が素晴らしい出来栄えです。エルボー部分など塗装の剥がれが出る部分は結構雑に(というと失礼ですが…)剥がされている個体が多い中、こちらはサンバーストのレイヤーに沿って剥がれていった様が再現されています。

ここは個人的に非常にアツいです!

John Fruscianteの相棒’62ストラトを彷彿とさせるこの雰囲気…お好きな方も多いんじゃないでしょうか?

 

スペックの部分に触れていきましょう。

まずはこの商品名にもなっている”10”、これがどこからきているかと言いますと…そう、指板のRが”10”inchなんです。9.5Rが多いFender Custom Shop製品ですが、こちらは更に平らに仕上げられており、太めのフレットと相まってまるでハイエンドギターの様な弾き心地で音詰まりもありません。

これは感動しました。すごい弾きやすいです。ポジションと弦によってかなり弾き心地にばらつきがあるのもFenderギターの可愛さでもちろん大好きなのですが、これはFenderらしいトーンながらもかなり高いプレイヤビリティを持ったまさに究極のハイブリッドです!

PUもマスターデザインのJohn Cruzモデルが載っており、モダンスペックで製作されることの多いJohn Cruz作品の様なサウンドを得るのに一役買っています。そう、音はJohn Cruzらしさを感じる、巻き弦が特に気持ちいいサウンドで聴き飽きず、弾き飽きない仕上がりです。高域に耳に痛いピーキーさがあまりなく、かといってきらびやかさが足りない感じもないのでアンプのセッティングが決めやすいです。歪ませるとちょうどよくジャリっと感を残しつつ、粘りのあるテンションが上がる音です、Fuzzとの相性も良さそうですよ。

ベタほめしてしまいましたが、そこに嘘はない一本ですよ！(もちろんいつもうそはつきませんが　…)

特に素晴らしかったので、ガーッと書いてしまいました…早い者勝ちです、お早めに!

2014 Fender Custom Shop Dealer Select ’61 Stratocaster Heavy Relic Wildwood 10 (Sunburst)

 

Here’s a limited run Stratocaster produced exclusively for Wildwood Guitars. It’s got some unique features, and the relic job on this one is fantastic. Frankly speaking, some Relic guitars look like the paint is just scraped off and don’t look worn, but this one shows how the wear would reveal the finish layers. That’s how that wear actually happens when the guitar is played for years. It’s got a similar vibe as John Frusciante’s beloved ’62 Strat.

Let’s look at the specs.

The “10” in the model name indicates that it has a flatter 10″ radius fretboard as opposed to either 7.25″ or 9.5″ that is seen in almost all Fender Strats. It also has medium-jumbo frets, and the combination makes this guitar feel like one of those high-end Strat-style guitars with smooth sustain even when you bend the notes at high frets. Typical Fender guitars would have different play feel depending on which strings you’re playing on and where you are on the neck, which is obviously part of the charm that Fenders have, but this one achieves both the Fender tone and modern playability.

The pickups are John Cruz Master Designed pickups, and you can hear a tinge of the John Cruz tone with fat sounding wound strings that you don’t get tired of. No harsh treble, but still has a nice sparkle and enough edginess when overdriven.
