本日ご紹介するのは

2015年製 Gibson Custom Shop Collector’s Choice #22 Tommy Colletti 1959 Les Paul Custom (Ebony)です。

 

ニューヨークに構える老舗楽器店、ザ・ミュージック・ズーのオーナー、トミー・コレッティ氏が所有する59年製レスポールカスタムを細部まで再現したこちらの一本、とにかく最高のルックスです。

ザ・ミュージック・ズーを訪れたことがある方の中でも、この楽器が壁に架かっているのを見たことがあり是非コレクターズチョイスシリーズで出して欲しいと思っていた方が少なくなかったようで、そんな方々からすればまさに願ったり叶ったりですね。気持ちはよく分かります。カッコいいもの…

 

カスタムショップの中でも、エイジド仕上げのレスポールカスタムは決して多くなく、ましてや3ピックアップのものとなるとこれはもうなかなかお目にかかれません。こんな使い込まれた風合いのブラック・ビューティー…言葉などいりませんね。

ストラップピンの移設痕やオーバーバインディングでのリフレット (もちろんコレクターズチョイス版はリフレットはされておらず、あくまでも見た目の再現)等、実機の細かいディテールまで蘇らせてます。

バックパネルのはギブソン・カスタムのエドウィン・ウィルソン氏 (いまはもう在籍しておりませんが)とトム・ファウル氏のサインが入っているのも特別感があっていいですね。

 

ネックシェイプは59年にしては薄く、ややソフトV気味の形状で手の馴染みがいい。

太いネックがちょっと苦手という方には持ってこいですし、4.31kgとカスタムにしてはさほど重くないということもあり、演奏面においても優れた個体だと思います。

 

これはコレクションに追加する価値のある楽器でしょう。

2015 Gibson Custom Shop Collector’s Choice #22 Tommy Colletti 1959 Les Paul Custom (Ebony)

 

Here’s a little ebony goodness for you.

This is a replica of the 1959 Les Paul Custom owned by Mr. Tommy Colletti, owner of the world-famous music store The Music Zoo. I would love to pay a visit one day…

 

There aren’t very many aged Les Paul Customs, and certainly very few with 3 humbucker configuration. Ain’t that cool.

 

Just look at this thing.

The broken-in look of a Black Beauty speaks for itself.

All the little details on the original such as the reinstalled strap button and frets over the binding (the original was refretted, but of course the Collector’s Choice models aren’t, just made to look like the original) have been precisely recreated.

You can see the signatures of Edwin Wilson (he’s not with Gibson any more) and Thom Fowle of Gibson Custom on the cavity plate which is pretty cool too.

 

Though the original was made in ’59, it has a pretty thin, soft-V shaped neck which feels great in the hands. Not so heavy for a Les Paul Custom weighing just around 9.5 lbs, and it’s a really nice playing guitar.
