本日ご紹介するのは

2016 Gibson Custom Shop True Historic 1959 Les Paul Murphy Aged (Bourbon Burst)です。

 

このトップの杢目にはやられました。

決して均整が取れている訳ではないけど、逆にランダムに揺れ動く感じがゆらゆら揺れる炎のようでカッコいい。

それに加えトム・マーフィー大先生によるエイジングが施されていて、まだ去年製作されたばかりでありながら既に使い込まれたような感触があります。

近年のエイジドモデルはピックアップカバーもよりヴィンテージライクに仕上がっており、細かいところではありますが表面のちょっとしたダレであったり丸みを帯びた角の感じが楽器全体の顔をより引き立たせます。

 

一生もののギターを探そうと思った時、いつも難しいのが決して見た目と出音が比例しないという点ですよね。皆さん一度は経験あるかと思います。

 

こればっかりは人それぞれのお好みや用途によりけりですが、この一本はそういう意味では当りだと思って下さる方が多いのでは。

 

3.72kgととても軽量な分、とってもクリーミーな音が鳴ってくれます。

 

音の立ち上がりがかなりゆったり出てくるので、チューブアンプ特有のコンプレッションといい具合に反応し、それを追って出てくるサステインがどんどん膨らんで咲いていきます。

 

これだけ軽いレスポールだと出音のバランスに優れており、低音域も高音域も出過ぎることなく倍音が中域に集中しているため温かく甘い音が出てくれます。

フロントはローがすっきりしつつ音がスーっとスムーズに鳴っていき、またリアはキンキンするような高音域が少なく、倍音豊かでやや粘着質なトーンです。

 

これだけバランスが良いだけあってとても扱いやすい楽器だと思います。

見た目も出音も兼ね備えているのは間違いないので、メインギターとして良いレスポールを一本とお考えの方にも、ストラトなどと合わせて使いたいという方にもオススメできるとても扱いやすい個体だと思います。

2016 Gibson Custom Shop True Historic 1959 Les Paul Murphy Aged (Bourbon Burst).

 

I’m in love with this maple top.

It’s got a rather random pattern that really looks like burning flame.

To top it off, the aging work was done by master Tom Murphy, and though it was only made last year, there is already a great broken-in feel.

Recent aged Gibsons sport pickup covers that are more vintage correct, with the not-so-flat surface and rolled corners which add to the vibe.

 

The problem when searching for the guitar of your life is that the one that looks great doesn’t always sound all that great. We’ve all been through this.

 

Now this one has a pretty distinct tone that might hit home to many of you.

 

Weighing only 8.2 lbs, this thing sounds very creamy.

The attack comes out nice and slow which responds nicely with the amp’s compression, and then comes the sustain that just blooms.

Les Pauls this light feels balanced with tamed low-end and treble, and the harmonics are mainly live in the midrange frequencies, resulting in a very warm, sweet tone.

The neck pickup is never muddy and the tone just breathes through.

Vice versa, the bridge pickup doesn’t have the harsh treble that kills your years, and the tone is dense and juicy.

 

The balanced tone makes this guitar very controllable.

It is without a doubt a great looking and sounding guitar, so whether you’re looking for a Les Paul as your main guitar or an addition to your arsenal, this one will be easy to get along.
