本日ご紹介するのは

2016年製 Gibson Custom Shop True Historic 1959 Les Paul Murphy Aged Hand Selected (Slow Iced Tea Fade)です。

 

これ、カッコいいでしょ。スローアイスティーフェイドというフィニッシュはカスタムショップでビリー・ギボンズの59年製レスポール”パーリー・ゲイツ”を復刻した際に採用されたカラーです。”パーリー・ゲイツ”はレスポールファンの中で史上最もカッコいいレスポールとの呼び声が高く、もちろん人それぞれ好みはあるものの、確かに歴史に残るカッコいい技ギターではあると思います。今日の一本はその”パーリー・ゲイツ”に近い雰囲気を持っていて、このルックスぼくは大好きです。少し前にこのブログでレスポールのバーストの中でグリーンレモンやレモンバーストが一番好きだと書きましたが、実はこのスローアイスティーフェイドも同じくらい好きです。このトップの決してギラギラせず、空に浮かぶ雲のようなふんわりとした杢目もちょうどいいんですよね。

このルックスで音がいまいちだったら…と一瞬不安になりましたがやはりトゥルーヒストリックは期待を裏切りません。重さはこれまたスウィートスポットに入る3.93kgで、ボディの振動にいい空気感がありつつ、その振動が逃げていかないようにしっかり踏ん張りも効いています。膨らみのある中域と、ガツンとくる押し出しの両方が共存するのは限られた範囲のウェイトレンジのものだけです。フロントは唸り、リアは叫び、センターは心地よく鳴きます。これはもう金を掘り当てにでも行かないといけませんね。このギターは良すぎて既にぼくは夢見心地です。

2016 Gibson Custom Shop True Historic 1959 Les Paul Murphy Aged Hand Selected (Slow Iced Tea Fade).

 

Here’s a handsome Les Paul I want to share with you. Man this is a gooood looking guitar. Slow Iced Tea Fade was the color used on the Custom Shop-made Billy Gibbons ’59 Les Paul Standard “Pearly Gates” replica, which many afficionados consider as the best looking Les Paul to ever be created. Everyone has their taste, but I can definitely agree it’ll go in the all-time-best-looking-guitars list. This guitar has a similar vibe and let me tell you, I just love the looks of it. I wrote a while ago that Lemon Bursts (Green Lemon included) is my favorite Burst finishes. The other favorite is this Slow Iced Tea Fade. The maple top is just right too. Not at all flashy, but still has a nice figure that looks like clouds forming up in the sky.

The tone is as good as it gets. True Historics really never lets me down. They’ve nailed the sweet spot yet again weighing right around the 8.6 lbs mark. You can hear the body ring with a nice airiness while holding the vibration down so it doesn’t get away. Nice bloomy midrange and punch. Only the ones with the right weight have both of these. The neck pickup will growl, the bridge would scream and the middle position has the chime. I need to go check my backyard and check if I have any gold I can dig up. This one is so good it’s got me dreaming already.

This guitar rocks.
