本日ご紹介するのは
Hofner 50s Senator (Natural)

 

こちらもまた個人的に密かに気に入っている一本。

 

ネックはかなり分厚く丸い形状で、中にはもうそれだけでダメ！ってなってしまう方もいらっしゃるかもしれません。

 

ぼくは弾けるは弾けます。

 

それよりも、もしこの楽器のネックがスリムシェイプだった場合、こういう鳴りは出ないでしょう。

当たり前のことですが、ネックと出音は密接に関係します。

全然弾けそうにないのはもちろん問題だけど、いい音が出ないのも問題。そこはどうしても葛藤が生まれますよね。

 

弦高が6弦側3.2mm、1弦側2.8mmと結構高めで、テンションも結構強いです。

ただそのテンションに耐えるということだけでなく、弦の振動をしっかり支えてボディーに伝えるという意味においても重要で、だからこそ単音でも音量がちゃんと出てくれる訳です。

 

枯れた乾いた質感と膨よかな中域、そして低音域が重たすぎないので、リードプレイでもコンピングなんかしてもちょうどいい。

My pick for today is…
Hofner 50s Senator (Natural)

 

Here’s a player guitar I’m personally fond of.

 

It’s got a pretty thick, round neck, which may be a no-no for some who like a slimmer neck shape.

 

For me, it’s playable.

If this thing had a slim neck, I can tell you for sure it won’t ring.

In other words, the neck is crucial for tone.

 

It’s got a good full mid-range and not a whole lot of low-end, a very nice dry tone for playing lead as well as comping behind a singer or soloist.

 

The action is pretty high and the tension is pretty stiff, so you will need some strength, but because of this, single notes pop out with plenty of volume.

 

No doubt this thing has tons of vibe!
